I’m absolutely amazed/shocked that a (or couple) enzymes can have such a profound effect on plaque. I would have thought it would be the hardest thing for medicine to accomplish.
I started taking it lately and can tell it is having some substantial effect (positive) but never measured for plaque. I intend to continue taking it together with Serrapeptase, and doing for a while Lumbrokinase also.

Long shot but has anyone here taken nattokinase and gotten before/after levels of fibrinogen checked to see if it made an impact on that biomarker?

There is no money to make that is why.

Yes thank you I’m aware of this research. I just haven’t noticed a decrease in my own fibrinogen levels from taking 8000FU nattokinase (potentially wasn’t enough). I was wondering if any folks here had a different experience.

Has anyone tried this product - Amazon.com: Liposomal Nattokinase 12,000 FU Serrapeptase 360,000 SPU Enzyme Supplement - Enriched with Synergistic Enzymes and Nutrient Blend & Inulin for Circulatory, Gut, Digestion 60 Capsules (2 Bottle) : Health & Household?

I’ve been using it for a couple of months, but recently started to doubt it is actually what’s claimed on the label. My concerns are:

  1. Seems almost too potent - I’m not sure they could physically fit everything in which they claim on the label;
  2. The address for the brand on the label doesn’t really exist - it’s some random rural address. On Google Street View, it’s just fields;
  3. The brand / company doesn’t appear to have a website;
  4. The reviews seem almost too good to be true. Like they’re all far too well written.

Not sure how to get the product tested. Am thinking I should just switch to another brand…

Yes, I saw that brand on Amazon as well and also thought it seems extremely sketchy/suspicious.

@Davin8r Do you use Nattokinase? If yes, I’d be interested to learn what brand you’ve chosen? My main criteria are:

  1. Enteric coated
  2. High potency (I would like to take ~20,000 FU per day)

Hmm, a combo product with both high dose nattokinase and serrapeptase sounds like something I would want to take for myself, but your concerns about whether it is a legit company or not seem to be warranted, given all the points you listed. Suspiciously cheap for what it is too.

I have been taking these:

I have atopped buying most supplements from Amazon after watching countless Ryker Black videos on YouTube where he tests products that often have zero or only trace amounts of what they are supposed to contain.

Currently using Pharmakon, but it’s not enteric coated and although it’s made in Germany, I haven’t seen any independent testing on its quality. Before this , I was using Doctor’s Best, which I’ll probably go back to although it’s not enteric coated either. DB brand regularly passes quality/safety tests on ConsumerLab over the years; in fact, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen them fail a test for any supplement. The name is pretty corny, but with good pricing and quality I don’t know what else to ask for.

You may email Pharmakon as I did for the 3rd party analysis: johan.stein@biomarkt-usa.com. Just specify the lot number. My wife and I both take the Pharmakon nattokinase. Previously we took Allergy Research Group nattokinase NSK-SD, which is a solid product, but it is pricey.

I don’t vouch for any of this, but it is effective advertising if that’s what it is:

Nattovena, Natural Factors, Drs Best, Pure encapsulation, source naturals, Solaray,Xymogen and double wood are all good.

For what it’s worth, I have been taking 100 mg dose of Nattokinase every day for several years for the reasons you cited. And my mother-in-law has been taking 300 mg a day for her heart health. The substance breaks up fibrous matter, including scar tissue.

I’m curious - did you get your CAC and CIMT re-done? If yes, was there any improvement? Or, at least, minimal progression?

I’d be keen to hear what his 12-month scans look like!

My CAC score on 3-26-24 was 1 (LCA=1, all other subscores 0).
My CIMT on 3-19-24 was 0.779mm on the left carotid and 0.726mm on the right carotid, indicating no detectable plaque in either carotid artery.

I was planning to get another reading after 12 months, but might instead get a Clearly CCTA : Even though it is more expensive (around $1900 in San Diego) with the newer 256 slice CT, the radiation dosage is about the same as for a CAC score (around 1 mS, assuming a BMI below 25) and provides a direct reading of both CAC and soft plaque on the coronary arteries. Retesting with negligible plaque is only recommended every 5 years (for CAC or CCTA) to avoid unnecessary radiation.

I am still taking Nattokinase (6000 units/day or 300mg) plus Buloela Lumbrokinase (1/day) and Serrapeptase (80,000 units/day) as a precaution, but my low scores do not provide definitive evidence of benefit since I did not get any reading before I started taking them 2 years ago. If I had significant plaque I would be taking 2-3x higher dosage of all three (recommended for plaque regression).

That’s a great result - nice to take arterial plaque off the table as a risk factor!

I just had one done at Carlsbad SimonMed. $1600. Supposedly Encinitas SimonMed can also perform. Doesn’t include any consultation.
