FWIW. A confounder for glucose is morning blood draws. I suffer from high morning fasting blood glucose probably due to high cortisol. When I get my blood draw in afternoon, my fasting blood glucose can be 20 points lower.

It’s well known that keto, low carb, and TRF raise morning glucose levels in addition to rapamycin.

Since 3 out of 4 of those things apply to me I just rely on the A1c test to make sure I am not pre-diabetic.

Common side effects

These common side effects of ezetimibe happen to more than 1 in 100 people. There are things you can do to help cope with them:

Stomach (abdominal) painDiarrhoeaFarting more than usualFeeling more tired than usual

Keep taking the medicine, but talk to a doctor if the advice on how to cope does not help and these side effects bother you or do not go away.

Serious side effects

Serious side effects are not common and happen in less than 1 in 10,000 people.

Tell a doctor or call 111 straight away if you get:

  • muscle pain, tenderness, weakness or cramps
  • yellowing of the whites of your eyes or your skin (this may be less obvious on brown or black skin), pale poo and dark pee – this can be a sign of liver problems
  • severe stomach pain (just under your ribs) – this can be a sign of pancreas problems

is Monacolin K.

Looking at the FDA website

If there is any more than trace elements of lovastatin in RYR then it is regulated in the USA as a drug.

I think you may be right, however, that some manufacturers added extra lovastatin to RYR.

Natural abundances of monacolin K in RYR also vary depending on rice type and fermentation conditions.

Did pantethine lower lp(a) too?

Yes, a superb article.
Table 1 on page 2 shows that the lowest dose of each statin yields about 75 % of the LDL reduction of the four times higher dose.
Statins are not side-effect free, and to me it seems prudent to go for less than the highest dose. Am on 4 mg pitavastatin, will probably reduce to 2 mg which according to the table gives a 41 % reduction in LDL compared to 48 % for 4 mg (trials on CRP show major reductions from 2 mg pita). Will start ezitimibe which should more than compensate.

So, sounds like there is no reason to take legal RYR in the US.

Severity and quantity of side effects varies by person. Most people can take a statin without any side effects.

I haven’t tested that since I started Pantethine. It was very low before because I believe I have inherited genetics that naturally predisposes me to have a low lp(a).

@desertshores Do you know if the pantethine has similar side effects to statins? Have you noticed any change in hgb A1C?

No change in A1c.
I don’t think it has the same side effects as a statin. But, I didn’t have any side effects from a statin. Pantethine is related to but not the same as vitamin B5.

So maybe if you take pantethine with a statin, you d need to take CoQ10.

Is CoQ10 Worth The Hype? (the research no one shows) - YouTube

Coq10 supplementation does not appear to help in case you do get muscle aches from statins.

Agreed. It didn’t help me.

Peter Attia recommended Jarrow’s ubiquinol as more bioavailable.

I failed in my quest to get a low-dose statin. Yes, but let’s wait 2 months to see how ezetimibe does. Same answer for Acarbose. Yes, but one at a time. I did get an order for a CAC scan. If it is zero, I would still want to aggressively treat ApoB. But if it is terrible I would push harder.

You know you can get acarbose from India for half the cost of it here and you don’t need a prescription.

Yes, thanks! My preference is to do it here with prescription, but I will definitely buy from India if I have problems.
