The BBC continues its interesting reporting:
We emit a barrage of whiffy chemicals through our pores and in our breath. Some are a sign that we might be getting ill – and could be used to diagnose diseases up to years in advance.
…
“It drives me mad that people are dying and we are putting needles up people’s butts in order to find out if they have prostate cancer, when the signal is already outside and detectable by dogs,” says Andreas Mershin, a physicist and co-founder of RealNose.ai, a company that is developing a robotic nose for diagnosing diseases based on scent. Such technology is necessary as relatively few people have noses powerful enough to detect these tell-tale biochemicals that crop up in the early stages of a disease.
@RapAdmin – I wanted to check in with you to make certain you feel these kinds of news reporting make sense for the forum. Please advise.

I’m not RapAdmin, but from participating and observing this site, I absolutely think content like the one you posted above belongs here. The trick with posting - as I see it - is to make sure one is not creating too many new threads, as an avalanche of threads makes finding info and using the site harder. If I were making this post, I might consider putting it in the “technology and health” thread, as that seems close thematically, bwdik. Anyhow, I’m not speaking for RapAdmin, just giving feedback and my appreciation of your post - that’s interesting information and a useful technology much needed in the diagnostic field
. Just my opinion, and YMMV.

It’s an interesting post and it could be moved to another thread about body scent (nonenal) produced by ppl after 40, (I believe it was created by @blsm) some time ago. Nowadays it becomes more customary to excessively use perfumes and colognes to mask body smell which imo is an unhealthy habit. Ppl don’t want to think about bad smells instead of paying attention.

Yes - it’s fine. This is a topic (broadly speaking) that has come up in the past as @LaraPo mentioned. See this thread: Eliminating or Preventing Nonenal (a.k.a. Old Person Smell)

@Alpha, thanks for sharing this fascinating article. I’d definitely utilize this technology!
I personally feel like since all of us here are trying to live both better and longer information like this and other things not directly related to rapa add value to the overall conversation. People aren’t obligated to read anything that doesn’t interest them after all. I had the same concern when I posted on nonenal.
