I’m revisiting the idea of adding metformin based on some studies showing an additive effect for longevity. My concern is metformin has shown in some literature to be detractive in older (70+) individuals. Has this been demonstrated for the combination? Anyone taking the combo currently or any other thoughts?

My read of the limited literature on the negative impacts of metformin in the elderly @Phillipe is that the independent variables are more likely to be frailty and perhaps sarcopenia or related conditions. I do not see convincing evidence that metformin is harmful to fit and healthy 70+ individuals.

I take both Rapamycin and low-dose daily Metformin (500 mg). I need it to keep my HBA1C out of the pre-diabetic range.
