Hi…. Anyone taking rapamycin ever experience elevated liver enzymes…. Like bad…… I’ve been on rapa for 5+ years…. I’ve never had this issue…. Also my cholesterol went up! It’s like, what’s happening…. I exercise a lot! I do CrossFit …. I don’t drink…. And I don’t take a ton of supplements either…. Just a multivitamin and an extra vitamin D. I don’t really trust supplements….

I take 5mg of rapa once per week with grapefruit juice (to save money)…. So probably I’m taking 6-8 mg realiatically?

Im considering ditching the grapefruit, and keeping my dose low…. I weight about 130 and was thinking perhaps more than 5mgs per week was too much…. OR maybe keep taking my 5mgs with grapefruit and just dose once ever 2 weeks…. I don’t know…. I also just turned 50, so I’m wondering if it’s just my body falling apart? :joy:

That is a huge dose, especially for once a week. The GFJ basically triples the dose. I weigh 160 lb and take 4 with GFJ every 2 weeks. Sometimes that is too much for me and I take only 3 with GFJ.

Your trough never gets down all the way in one week and basically boosts your dosage for the next week. Your levels are always climbing and you could be inhibiting complex 2. That’s bad.

I would wait at least 3 weeks and start over. I’m not a doctor or a phd, there are people here smarter than me.

Can you be specific, including sharing the results here? The timing of the test, and the drug/etc regime at the time would also be useful.

I assume you would be referring to ALT as the liver enzyme. That can be raised by a huge number of things, from drug toxicity to exercise to fatty liver to tumors or infection.

Have you had any follow up with a doctor?

The test result could be an error. If it were me (not a doctor) I’d stop every OTC chemical just in case and retest. I’d also talk to my doctor.

You mention CrossFit. If you are very hardcore, I’d back off until resolved.
