I don’t agree with everything in the article, but it’s interesting.

‘To nurture my community’

For many black vegans, their journey begins with a quest for a healthier lifestyle.

African Americans have a higher rate of hypertension, type 2 diabetes, obesity and cancer than most other groups, in part because their diet is on average higher in salt and fat and lower in fruits and vegetables, research shows.

But socioeconomic factors like poverty, living far from a greengrocer and easy access to fast food have made it harder for African Americans to eat healthily, according to the Food Empowerment Project, a non-profit aimed at ending food inequality.

I think sodium is probably the unhealthiest part of processed foods along with saturated fat.

My ideal split is 50% carbs, 30% protein and 20% fat.

My ideal is 50% organic protein, 30% healthy fats (organic butter, organic olive oil, organic avocado), 20% carbs (veggies, and some fruits, ZERO sugar, zero bread, rarely rice) =1500 calories per day should be good since I only exercise high intensity of about 3-7 minutes daily, so not much burning energy.

Out curiosity what makes you guys think that a diet high in carbs is good for human body when in fact a human body mass has near % carbs in it while it has over 20% fat and over 70% protein. There is literally ZERO need to consume carbs for a human being (i love carbs btw). The only reason we were made to even be able to digest carbs was for survivability reason. As we know having enough food has been the biggest challenge for humans for over 99% of time of their existence. Knowing this, God (sorry Darwinian/communist crowd lol) made sure that we have enough fat deposits (accumulated via eating a lot of carbs) so that we will be able to go prolonged periods of time without food and still be fine and able to go back hunting and fishing to secure food, so the species survives. Had it not been for that reason ALONE we would not even be able to digest carbs at all.

I always like to mention that my thoughts/ideas are 0% based in science and 100% in common sense, and in nine out of ten common sense prevails against science LOL.

-As fun fact I remember back in late 80’s when in high school and the subject of eating eggs came up, and how dangerous they are for health, and they really poison etc…etc… our teacher was big on health (poor her little did she know she was doing it all wrong). Anyway, me being never short on common sense I said " I don’t care who says eggs are bad, I think eggs are one of the best foods there is. How could they be so bad when a life is formed inside, it grows, it flourishes, and it gets all organs and by the time they come out of the egg they can chirp, they can walk, breathe and perform every function any other being performs" In other words it has such a perfect mix of nutrients that nothing is lacking to forming a perfect life. The teacher was like whoa I like your way of thinking, but sorry you are wrong because every doctor and every scientist is saying the opposite. It definitely took our scientists/doctors a while (about 40 years) but now all of the sudden eggs are the new supper food LOL. They might as well skipped all the studies and research and ask a kid in high school to tell them if eggs are good or bad.

There is literally ZERO need to consume carbs for a human being

Building muscle mass is much easier with sufficient carb intake.

As we know having enough food has been the biggest challenge for humans for over 99% of time of their existence.

It wasn’t good for our teeth but neither was starving to death.

always like to mention that my thoughts/ideas are 0% based in science and 100% in common sense, and in nine out of ten common sense prevails against science LOL.

According to my common sense, the keto/carnivore crowd is suicidal. Common sense is not something that is commonly agreed upon, hence we need science.

It definitely took our scientists/doctors a while (about 40 years) but now all of the sudden eggs are the new supper food LOL.

Eggs are not super food at all, who told you that? They contain some protein, some fat and dietary cholesterol which some hyperabsorbers can directly absorb into their bloodstream. The only reason to even consider them is their choline content. And ever since I started to supplement with choline, eggs became disgusting to even look at.

Not going to respond to all your points because they are lacking substance and are being argued for sake of arguing, and not objectively discussing the subject at hand. For example- Weren’t eggs a big no in the 90’s? Isn’t it now the sentiment that eggs are fine and are even healthy for consumption?
and for your reference science changes its mind every time the sun comes up lol.

BTW, just three articles (i did not write lol) for reference:

Move Over Carrots! Eggs Are the New Superfood – Ovation Foods (inovationfoods.com)

[This superfood can help with weight loss and prevent heart disease (nypost.com)](https://nypost.com/2024/06/14/lifestyle/this-superfood-can-help-with-weight-loss-and-prevent-heart disease/)

5 facts about eggs to prove they’re the superfood you need | HealthShots

LOL dude, if three articles is not enough, there was over 10,000 of them when I googled the subject. BTW my point was then, and it is now, that eggs can’t be so bad as everyone was saying, and not necessarily that I like eggs. I rarely if ever eat them.

And actually, the biggest and most important point of it was how could a kid be right, and doctors and scientists be wrong. Aren’t they the ones that are supposed to prove to us what is good or bad. Well, I’m not discounting everything they say btw because without science we would still be living in caves lol, but even science gets it wrong every once in a while. There is another subject that I would love, love, love to slam but it is out of subject in these boards, but all I can say it will go down in history as the biggest fraud humanity has ever witnessed. LOL

You say while you make unsubstantiated claims based on “common sense”.

For example- Weren’t eggs a big no in the 90’s? Isn’t it now the sentiment that eggs are fine and are even healthy for consumption?

This was based on animal research showing that dietary cholesterol was directly absorbed into the bloodstream. This is only the case for a minority of people as science eventually showed, which caused guidelines to be changed. But studies back then and studies nowadays do show a direct link between LDL-C and cardiovascular disease, nothing has changed there.

BTW, just three articles (i did not write lol) for reference:

Innovationfoods.com, the NYPost and Healthshoot, clearly the least biased sources of them all. Eggs still aren’t superfood, the only reason they can be good is for their choline content which most people don’t get enough of unless they supplement.

if three articles is not enough, there was over 10,000 of them when I googled the subject.

How about a meta-analysis then? This one shows no real benefit or harm form egg consumption, so it’s not super food.

Egg consumption and health outcomes: a global evidence mapping based on an overview of systematic reviews - PMC (nih.gov)

And actually, the biggest and most important point of it was how could a kid be right, and doctors and scientists be wrong.

No, the kid in question just really liked eggs. I know another kid who really loves pizza and didn’t think it was bad until it made him obese.

but all I can say it will go down in history as the biggest fraud humanity has ever witnessed. LOL

Is it about the covid vaccine, about LDL cholesterol or about the moon landing?

No need to diss eggs just because you don’t like them.
I don’t like vegetables, but that doesn’t mean they are not good for you.

"Eggs are considered a superfood because they are packed with nutrients that can provide many health benefits. They contain:
Protein
A complete protein with all nine essential amino acids, which are important for muscle growth and repair
Healthy fats
Omega-3s, which are polyunsaturated fatty acids that are important for heart and brain health, and protecting your eyes
Vitamins
Vitamins A, B12, B2, and B5, as well as vitamin D in the egg yolk, which is important for immunity and bone health
Minerals
Iron, phosphorus, and selenium
Choline
An important nutrient for the brain and normal cell functioning, including spinal cord development "

The only real benefit of eggs is their high choline content, everything else you can easily get from other sources (animal or plant).

That is your opinion sir, not a fact.

I am only going to eat unhealthy food from now on, so for me this discussion is meh.
(But I’ll control calories, make sure to get protein for certain goals, and supplements/drugs).

My example actually had nothing to do with if egg are a superfood, nor i believed it then or now that they are a superfood. My point was that even a kid (hardheaded one at that) using a little of common sense was able to reason that eggs can’t be as bad as everyone was saying. As I said I don’t think eggs are a superfood, but I definitely don’t think they are bad as they were being portrayed. It was the same doctors and scientist that were saying eggs are dangerous that later changed their opinion and started calling them a superfood. If you got beef with that, have it with them not me, I never called them such. I merely pointed out that eggs can’t be that dangerous.

Plus, the other point i made which is our bodies have near zero % carbohydrates, then why would we need to consume carbs only or mainly? Again, not saying carbs are good or bad, what the hell do I know. I am not a scientist nor a doctor. I am merely throwing it out there as something to think about…and who knows in 50 years from now I may again be proven right by scientist and doctors that are telling me now otherwise. I simply am going to refute anything I hear or read (regardless of if it coming from a scientist or doctor) until I’m convinced with facts and not just because a paper or a study or someone in the field said so.

that is all to it, not arguing nor even telling anyone that carbs are bad, just putting my commonsense hat on lol. As matter of fact, I wish carbs were good because would literally live on carbs alone and never eat anything else. Give all the butter pecan ice cream you can find, all cheesecakes, and pecan pies there is and I will be fine with them. Too bad that my common sense keeps saying that they are not real food and the only reason they’re made edible is for me to be able to fatten myself so that i can last during the food shortage season till food becomes available again, and our species survives and lives on. that is how I see it, and I might be 100% wrong but until you or someone gives me enough facts that carbs are the way to go, I might have to torture myself with real food which is to say organic steaks and wild caught salmon. LOL

There is what is called a hierarchy of good evidence… not all “articles” or even scientific papers are equal. You may want to research this:

Here is a picture of the hierarchy of evidence.

But, when it comes to diet (and I stay out of these arguments) - even if you did stick to relatively good sources of evidence, I still strongly suspect that anyone with an opinion can probably find at least one study that supports their viewpoint.

So - find a diet that works for you, do the blood testing and aging biomarker tests to validate that its working for you, and lets avoid these arguments here please.

LOL what the hell makes you think that I am that smart (to be able to understand/digest all that). Sorry I’ll have to stick with “I’m right and everyone else is wrong”, Less work for me that way :joy::joy::joy:

Agreed though. You are 100% on point (as usual).

When pressed for his keys to a long and successful life, Munger at first demurred, saying “I don’t know the secret.” Then, he added that he’d avoided major catastrophes in his life because he was “so cautious,” always avoiding obvious risks in his personal life and career.

“Crazy is way more common than you think,” said Munger. “It’s easy to slip into crazy. Just avoid it, avoid it, avoid it.”

I’ll do that trade off most likely. I’ll scoot around in my La Casa with my mobility scooter wearing AR glasses and sipping on a Diet Caffeine-Free Coke.
