I’m pretty sure you can find his protocol here.

Look at the product ingredients for all the products that are consumed with the study.

@jnorm Gene activation is a fairly new approach and these things do take time to work their way into clinical trials (years for even proof of principle large animal studies). However, vector delivery continues to be an important hurdle in gene therapy and many of the CAS9 approaches (whether it is gene editing or gene activation) require multiple copies of the vector per cell and persistence. Packaging capacity (in the AAV world) becomes a problem as well since the CAS9 gene is about 4kb and the packaging capacity of AAV is 4kb so it leaves little room to add templates or other components of an activating complex.

Delivering enough vector to the tissue of interest and expressing foreign proteins (like CAS9) can result in immune degradation of the expressing cells. This isn’t always seen in small animal studies because the immune system of a mouse is obviously quite different than that of a human.

My guess is that scientists and doctors are also hesitant to permanently induce over-expression of growth promoting genes like folistatin because it isn’t clear what the long term affect of that over-expression might be (?cancer).

Something in this food is making me sick, which is weird. I am thinking it might be a balsamic vinegar. I don’t particularly like the canola oil either, the taste of it. It just makes food a little bit oily. So I might return to more blueprint diet foods, and dump the wheat berries and oat groats, and even canola oil for EVOO just because of taste and take care of apoB in other ways.

I never have stomach problems, but going for wheat berries + oat groats + balsamic vinegar, seems to do it. Or in a combination?

(I nearly puked after adding mushrooms, and adding a more expensive balsamic vinegar).

People processed wheat berries and oat groats for a reason?

There is only Fig balsamic vinegar in blueprint, and it’s not used in large amounts, only for a recipe or tw.

I had no problems with my Blueprint Lite diet in the past.

So far +1 point to Blueprint, and no points to Michael Gregor!

Could be Canola - it makes me sick.

Maybe, it seems benign to me and I’ve had it in the past with no problems. Eating a lot of balsamic vinegar, it’s acidic. Combined with oat groats and wheat berries which historically people have never eaten (made flour, bread, etc instead), might make me sick.

I honestly think it’s the balsamic vinegar, since it can have effects on digestion, blood sugar. It made the food taste good, though. I think it’s similar to acarbose in some ways.

You are aware that store “balsamic” is just a vinegar (hopefully wine now with I.G.P. protection) with some sweetener and coloring?
I imagine D.O.P. quality would be prohibitively expensive to use every day in large quantities, but if buying I.G.P. one need to check the labels for additives. I.G.P does not protect the ingredients or methods. I would never buy anything that lists anything other than wine vinegar and grape must.
And yes, I believe balsamic vinegar is more acidic than usual vinegars.

Just the thought of Canola oil makes me sick. :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

Probably this is the most valuable thing in the rejuvenating protocol!

Yeah I skipped on buying DOP, which I am glad of as I bought two bottles of IGP where the first ingredient was grape must and second vinegar. I’m glad since it seems I can’t use it in large quantities.

Although I enjoyed the food, thinking about it does make me sick indeed.

Vinegar is one of those things that you MUST buy organic(unless you want to use it for cleaning the house, which some people do), especially knowing that cost is not an issue since a 1/2L bottle will last you ages.

I suspect this guy will live longer than many who are neurotic about diet and lifestyle:

He eat mostly fast food, and cooks $2 steaks even though he has a lot of money. He clearly eats in moderation because of his weight, avoiding obesity and the lots of problems from that. Like Aubrey De Grey, who probably eats junk food too.

Money will pay for future longevity/healthspan improving drugs.

Also not being neurotic about food and enjoying it is the Warren Buffett approach, extraordinary longevity and health it seems (probably with some longevity drugs like statins).

+1 point to the hedonistic longevity people!

Don’t you think thee might be a third option, something between hedonistic popping pill diet and extreme diet approach like BJ or Michael Gregor.
From recent books I read on diet Luigi Fontana’s approach is the most sustainable and if you cheat once in a while probably totally doable for life.

$2 steaks? when was that in early 1900’s lol. Went to costco the other day and a roast beef cut was like $99 (6, or 7lbs probably, don’t remember) . Used to get it for $30-$40 just couple years back. Surprisingly stop and shop where I buy my 12OZ organic steaks has barely raised the price. Used to get it for $12.99 (already expensive but worth it in my opinion) for as long as I can remember (like at least 4-5 years ago) and now it is only $13.49. The price is already high, but considering I only eat organic, I’m happy that the price is relatively unchanged. Anything else beef related it is like 200-300% up, while pork and chicken is little changed. I guess steak will soon become a luxury or something you can afford to buy once month or so.

I count myself in the hedonistic category because I binge drink from time to time and eat almost full english breakfasts every day. On the other hand I do limit my total food consumption (although I have a problem that when drunk I am much worse at not overeating).

I eat dark chocolate, but there are so many reasons why chocolate is a good source of nutrition and I eat a relatively small amount (apart from when drunk).

I think it’s these steaks he eats/ate, it seems to have increased a bit, $2.3 per steak now:

It doesn’t feel good to be overweight I guess, or be in a massive caloric surplus. So it does make sense to limit total food consumption. I find eating few meals a day to be helpful in that regard.

As a snack a bit of pickled beetroot or some pickled onions is not a bad idea. I also aim for a bigger breakfast than the other meals, but from time to time I go out to a restaurant with my family or others.
