Amazon is $13.40 for 30 x 5mg.
I would think that 20mg is too much to take every day. My guess is that you would get the benefit from 5mg every day or even every other. Certainly no harm or foul if you miss a day.

The hardcore guys at my gym run with these on. They also do pullups and other body weight exercises. I have done some trotting and light running with my 68 pound daughter on my shoulders. A few hundred yards is an extraordinary workout. When she was 30lbs, I could run about a half mile with her on my shoulders.
I would think that the weighted vest would be easier to run with than a kid bouncing around on one’s shoulders. I would also imagine it being easier than a backpack since the weight is more easily distributed.

I take a different statin (the one novos said had longevity - don’t know if they still do), but I take the others except I take dutasteride
There seems to be a divide on those propecia/dutasteride arguments. Hair is a huge part of looks, so I wouldnt go without. I’m hoping there is some longevity due to how detrimental male hormones seem to be on aging. Guys who are castrated as we know live longer… Dont know how that would work out in terms of DHT etc… And those meds can technically raise testosterone I believe

New information on finasteride is not only does it give your prostate help, keeping it small…, but it also can help with your cholesterol in your blood from turning into arthrocleurosis.
An example would be. I just had my blood panel done and my LDL C is 150. Not horrible, but something that an average doctor would put you on a statin for. However, my coronary calcium scan has been showing 0. I’m about to take another scan in a few weeks and see if after 2 years. I’m still at that number.
Oh, and of course it helps you keep your hair.

I wonder if 0.5mg finasteride would be enough to be effective for prevention of future prostate issues.
That’s interesting about reducing LDL

Tissue concentrations will be lower than with the standard 5mg dose but it should still be enough to prevent BPH.

So splitting a 1mg tab into quarters for a daily dose of 0.25mg might be a nice general preventative with low risk of side effects then.

Yes… once you get started the saturation of the medication is such you might skip to every 3rd day on a 5mg dose… or split pills. I have heard from others who reduce dose or split pills. I have dosed every other day. My son 33 years does 5mg pill once a week.
I never have had any sexual ED from finasteride . On it about 33 years. Some people have issues.

I do 5mg tadalafil daily. I asked dr for it due to ED. It is really good for me, other than a small side effect of sinus stuffiness for an hour or two after taking at night.

yeah but what level of statin?
Blogosklonny tweeted this chart a couple months ago. Not sure who did the study but evidently my doc isn’t familiar with it because he wants me a lower levels

That’s a prospective cohort study, it isn’t able do adjust for all confounding factors.
Similar non-causal U-shape relationship show up for high blood pressure, obesity, high blood sugar, etc, where there are confounding factors that increase mortality and decrease LDL cholesterol at the same time, or decrease weight or blood pressure or whatever. But without the latter causing the former.
Once you use a study design that actually adjusts for all factors, lower is better. They don’t mention this because it goes against their beliefs.

I think for now, I’m going to just stick with the 2.5mg Tadalafil daily (I get GERD, red eyes, and a stuffy nose if I use more) and hope it’s enough for prostate issue prevention.

I like curves!
This graph is my kinda graph.
Bro.
Attia did a prostate and mens sexual health episode with an expert on the topic. He had concerns about finasteride/dutasteride and no longer prescribed them, preferring tadalafil for BPH.

If you’re already taking tadalafil, there is no reason not to use a 5ar inhibitor since tadalafil counters possible sexual side effects. Moreoever, each medication targets different pathways, making the combination (possible with addition of tamsulosin) ideal for treating BPH.

Hi Neo,
I asked my PT if his recommendation for having a backpack with a hip belt was ME specific or for everyone. He said yes
He said, until not too long ago, I wasn’t using my core, so he didn’t want me walking with weight and being a ‘pumpkin on a stick’. In other words, he was worried all the tension would be in my upper back and neck to hold the weight (a known issue of mine). I wear my shoulders as earrings.
He added, for most people, yes, they should also put more of the load lower because the benefit of walking with weight is still there, so do it in a way that has less potential to cause injury.

I don’t want to rain on the weighted vest parade. I have had one for years and used to wear on my walks to and from the train during my commute. I have pretty bad osteoarthritis in my hips and to a lesser extent my knees. The jury is out on what causes arthritis but I can’t help but wonder if all my weighted walks contributed. If you add up all the weighted walks with 20lb vest we are talking 100s of miles.
