Our little girl is 10 years old and weighs 7lb. We give her a quarter of 1 mg every week . Other than that she gets a product called Leap Years crumbled up into her science diet soft food ( no teeth) 3 years ago she jumped out of our golf cart and hurt her hip , I did some research and ordered glucosamine for small dogs, which includes Chondroitin , I put a dropper over her chicken hears at least 4 times a week. She recovered within a few days from her injury and now she is running around like a 2 year old puppy
I hope this helps, ps her blood work is perfect

I had my first experience with gabapentin last night. Great sleep, no sides. And my GP prescribed it, so I didn’t have to through India.

Tim, did you see this recent study on Gabapentin and increased risk of dementia?

^ if you can find something with extracts of these herbs, it’ll knock you out (but very rough on your liver).

Has anyone tried Belsomra (suvorexant) or any other orexin antagonist? If so, what was the effect?

Thx …

Elizabeth_Kirby, I have tried Quviviq (shorter half-life than other forms of orexin antagonists which means few side effects) and found it underwhelming, possibly because it did not seem to be nearly as strong as my other frequent use sleep aids (doxylamine and diphenhydramine). So, I am going to give it another trial and take note of how rested I feel during the daytime compared to the “foggy brain” doxylamine gives me. It may be that I just did not give it enough time. So, I’ll try it again. If possible I would prefer to switch to Quviviq because it may be safer on a long-term basis than doxylamine and diphenhydramine. I will not use Belsomra or Dayvigo they have have much longer half-lives.

Belsomra had a bizarre effect on me. It gave me hallucinations while I was still awake.

I’m still interested in trying one of them, but it sounds like they might not work as well as I hope.

Tart cherry extract is the only thing that reliably increased my deep sleep which I track with a Fitbit. Nothing else I tried from slow release melatonin, trazodone, theanine had any impact. I averaged 45-50 minutes of deep sleep a night prior to using it and now have averaged 1 hour 17 minutes for several months.

Thanks Matt, any dose and Brand recommendation ?

I’ve also found it to be quite effective every time I’ve consumed it.

Bulk supplements is what I’ve been using and I take 1/2 teaspoon each night like 15-20 mins before I get in bed.

I have had great sleep benefits from 5mg clotiazepam, a relatively mild “benzo” with a short halflife of around 6 hours. I’ve tried to limit its use to only once or twice a week (and sometimes halving the tablet) as I am afraid of developing a dependance on the drug. It really quitens my mind making it much easier to sleep and the next day I am very subued and calm. My girlfriend and friends can pick up on it straight away when I’ve had it the night before. I think it’s not available in all countries but I’m sure there are similar drugs that can be used instead. Of course I wouldn’t encourage the use of these medicines unless you really feel the need for it. You’ll almost certainly need a perscription as benzos are usually strictly controlled.
