Yeah I get it but I don’t like the legal risk.

Severe cutaneous adverse reactions like that are scary stuff.

I believe I was in the early stages one time, although not from modafinil. I had raised, red bumps all over my skin and large canker-like sores all over my mouth. Stopped the drug that I suspected was causing it and the bumps started to dissipate, then like an idiot I used it the next day and they came right back. Never took it again and they went away.

At the time I had no clue what it was and then a few years later I was looking at pics of Lyell syndrome (not recommended) and the early stages looked exactly like what I remembered.

I use modafinil when I have important 6h meetings at work. This week on monday I used 50mg at 6h in the morning, no problem to fall asleep at night. Tuesday I used 100mg at 6h in the morning and I had to take 3,75mg zopiclon to get to sleep. For me, modafinil is great for mental clarity / productivity

Adderall and vyvanse are amphetamines. Modafinil is not. Modafinil is milder as a nootropic but still effective, and without many of the same risks as amphetamines

I have narcolepsy (without cataplexy) since age 13. Originally I was on Ritalin, but about the year 2000 I was switched to Modafinil and I have been on it ever since, so near 25 years. I have no side effects from it and it stops (mostly stops) my sleep attacks. I have no problems falling asleep at night but that might be due to having narcolepsy. I don’t feel stimulated from it I just stay awake. If you have any questions let me know.

LukeMV, search for “Modafinil” in all topics and you will find a variety of opinions from people who use Modafinil.

In the “Nicotine, Cognition and Neuroprotection” topic here is my opinion from some months ago:

Oh, just as a note, ordinary coffee or caffeine powder mixed with water is still the most beneficial nootropic I find for mental clarity and physical activity. However, Modafinil is useful at times in small amounts, but may have unpleasant hangover effects, addictive potential, and can really mess with your sleep. The small amount of 50 mg in the morning (at times when I feel the need) is just enough to be useful for me at times. With this amount it’s almost unnoticeable until I become active physically or active with other people where I notice things go more smoothly without a “wired” feeling. It’s somewhat like caffeine, but with a half-life of 10 hours or so versus caffeine’s quick downhill after 3 or 4 hours for me.

For me the sleeplessness effect and the tempting addictive potential makes it something I only use when I think the benefit outweighs these two things. That may be two or three times a week or none for a week or two. If it did not affect my sleep I might use it more frequently with a washout period every two weeks or so in order for the mind to readjust to “reality.”

I saw this video with Dave Asprey talking about modafinil, starting at @10:10

-Has taken modafinil for 23 years
-Mentions he used around 50mg/day(half pill) on the day of this interview. Takes it almost everyday.
No clue if he changes up the dose depending on the type of day ahead.
-stacks well with coffee…and maybe other stuff.

Good video. He thinks modafinil is a much safer alternative

I have been taking Modafinil for just over a year and I can honestly say it has transformed my life in a more positive way than I ever would’ve imagined!! I’ve experimented with up to 400 mg a day and have found that less is more, and for me,100mg a day, occasionally 200mg, is perfection. I wake up every day motivated and alive, enjoying even the minutia, not wanting the day to end and excited about tomorrow. It honestly makes me high on life.

As an update, been taking Modafinil daily for a month now. It still works great. I have no plans to ever stop, barring some unforeseen circumstance.

Did 100mg for two weeks but bumped to 200mg the last two. Always take it as soon as I wake up with my T3 thyroid medication and some coffee.

I’ve found over the last year that 200mg adds nothing to an already perfect experience. That said, when I know I’ve got a really full day ahead of me, I sometimes take 100mg in the morning and another 100mg at noon (rarely later than that so my sleep isn’t compromised). For me, all that does is prolong versus enhance the effects.

All in all, I would say, after having tried up to 300mg at one time, that 100mg is the sweet spot for me!! This drug has transformed my life and is a true game changer!!! Can’t say enough good things about it …

Yea some people will do great on 100mg, and others may need 200mg. I’m a large guy so I typically might need a little more than someone smaller.

Makes sense. I’m barely 105lbs soaking wet. Less is more though and that’s great even though I got my last 100 200mg tablets at $18!!

And I am 210lbs so that’s why I need double the amount as you. Lol

Right, people may need different dosages depending on size, metabolism and presence of any pathology like narcolepsy or some disorders that cause hypersomnia. For me, I took 300mg/day in one dose for about 20 years (5’6", normal weight) to control sleep attacks, no side effects, no euphoria, maybe because my disorder was being treated. Now, however, I work part–time and don’t need that strict control so am at 200mg/day which is working well.

I think it has a good cognitive effect too for me, possibly, it is hard to tell because it could just be my nature. I am focused and tend to do what I set out to do with a broad range of interests. I think I have some help with that from it with respect to maintaining attention.

I had a prescription for modafinil (generic) and I found it to be very hit or miss, more often a miss. Sometimes It worked amazingly well when I was low on sleep and other times I actually felt lethargic and generally “off” in a way that’s hard to explain. Maybe it was the generic? I tried the full range of doses it that didn’t seem to be the issue. I never figured out what the difference was on good days versus the bad ones. Does anyone have experience with Armodafinil? I was thinking of trying that instead.

What’s the risk of importing it vs importing rapamycin?

It’s scheduled and will likely get seized by CBP if the package is inspected. Then your address might get flagged for future inspections, and you could lose access to Global Entry. Worst case, DHS shows up on your doorstep (it happens) and they try to get you to admit to ordering. If you screw up, that’s a felony charge.

The odds of getting in trouble are low especially for one import, but the consequences are potentially life changing so it’s a dumb thing to risk. If customs inspects and allows the drugs through, they may be building a case against you. People have gone to prison doing this and that’s how it happens. If you’re going to order illegal drugs on the internet don’t order internationally.

Newbalance, you bring up an important point. It’s hit and miss with me, too. At first I thought it could be that I’m using a generic, but using portions from the same pill I cut into several pieces four days in a row this week convinced me that’s not the case. The effects earlier in the week were good, but today was bad. I have no explanation other than the body’s inability to keep bumping up the same brain chemicals 4 days in a row. So, as I’ve mentioned before I usually take several days break after using Modafinil a few days in a row. Another important point is that it is most effective for me when I’ve had a good night’s sleep. So, poor sleep quality may be the culprit for my bad experiences on some days.

When I hear of people taking Modafinil several decades continually without problems I always wonder how it can work so consistently well for them.
