Ok, I’m just realizing you mentioned the vit c tones down the blue… hmmm, well, my supplement contains vit c!
@约瑟夫_拉维尔 , perhaps my pills are fine?

The colour is ph dependent

I have tried to find a good link, but AIUI it goes paler in acid possibly at pH 4, but I have not found a good link.
I probably have the most alkaline urine on this forum at pH 9 when I am not drinking. Hence MB in my urine goes green when mixed with (the effects of) vitamin B2 or otherwise blue.

@Beth The vitamin C in the supplement wouldn’t make a difference to the pee color. I don’t understand the rationale of putting Vit c in a MB pill (which avoids the staining directly). You can try a bigger dose since you already have the pills.
I’ll also add that I wouldn’t take MB like a vitamin that I take everyday as insurance. I would only take it when I need an effect that MB is perfect for delivering.
My goal is to take zero MB because I’ve been successful, someday, at rejuvenating my mitochondria so that I recover quickly, never have brain fog, sleep great. I already use much less MB than I did 1 year ago.

For clarity, are you saying the vit c is mixed with the liquid BEFORE consumption and that helps avoid the mouth, counter, and hand staining… and not talking pee color, right?

Interestingly, on their website, I see it says don’t take MB if you are on coq10 or lithium… and a host of other things. I’ll have to google this, but I thought it was worth sharing here.
See this page for the LONG list

EDIT:
I also see this which I find kind of obnoxious, but free market and all… at least they are honest about wanting to cash in.

Hmm, the main contraindication I’m aware of is that MB is a potent MAO-A inhibitor. So, if you’re already on an MAOI or have naturally slow MAO-A activity due to genetic factors, it could have consequences. But why lithium and CoQ10 are on the list is an interesting question.

@Beth yes, what you said is correct. FYI, Dr Scher was not a fan of using vit c to turn the MB clear (in solution). He speculated that it reduced the MB effectiveness. He is the only one who I have ever heard say that. Perhaps he is influenced by selling a product that cannot be combined with vit c to avoid a blue mouth. I started using vit c but quit out of laziness. I just squirt the eyedropper down my throat.

Interesting about his opinion on the c
Thought I’d share the late breaking news. The company emailed me back and said their vit c in the formula minimizes the color in urine!
Also, I have a mint green thing going on and I am feeling kinda proud that I have @John_Hemming vibes

Yes with the Aborbic acid Vitamin C - the blue goes clear. But, returns blue in your pee.

I should play a particular tune in your honour. I am quite getting into Bach’s Air on the G String ATM. Not really jazz, but quite nice, it has this really hard bit with three lines in the second section.

Sounds like BS to me. But it is a clever way to dodge the “why isn’t my pee blue like other people taking MB using different products?”

Yeah… kinda hard to imagine benefits without the post dosing signature blue urine .
My MB is deep blue.
Add Absorbic acid… vitamin C makes it turn clear… then it comes out blue in your urine.

That is a stunning piece.
It was a nice surprise considering I was expecting you to play the blues or this:

I bought this powder and plan to make 10 mg capsules, mixed with John Hemming’s various types of citrate as a filler.

The pharmagrade powder/liquid is available. At 1% solution it is 10 mg/mL. The capsule is 12 mg from Amazon. Self mixing is certainly available, but stains everything.
This is messy to work with and I’ve been happy with the capsules. I’d suspect the folks with strong blue immediately might be doing a higher dose?

This is covered in a Wise Athletes podcast. It means you need a higher dose. Blue urine signifies saturation

Good question…
To the Smurfs out there, are you using more than 10mg?
Also, in the name of science, will someone take some C with it to see if it alters your color? EDIT: Whoops, I realize AGETRON had already answered it turns blue, even after the C… hmmmmm… I just took 2 and I’ll see what happens… and next round I’ll buy the drops to see if I can tell a difference.

Sorry to be so obsessed with this topic, but I am!
I see on the Empower website they state studies have been shown that 74% of people had blue urine.
Also, @DrFraser, I see Empower also has pills. Do you happen to know how much they charge?

I bought the same pills as you did and when I take 1, normal urine. When I take 2 it’s blue or green.
I get what I consider a good boost from it and like it. I sleep well on 12 mg dose. I stand in front of the IR light after about an hour.
