Never really looked into it. I have it done since I was a child, I thought it is just normal to get this done. I have just my anecdotal report, that it really helps with sensitivity and in 49 years with my mediocre teeth hygiene I only have one filling.

At the end of a cleaning procedure, a hygienist usually applies a high concentration fluoride polish to the teeth which remineralizes them. Is it what you call lacquer?

Probably it is same yes. It is very concentrated fluoride and some vanish/lacquer/polish material that prevents you from ingesting fluoride. My dentist says I should’t wash my teeth until next day.
I usually use fluoride gel once a month to remineralize teeth as well.

May I ask what type and what your protocol is?

I use ELMEX GELEE 1,25 % (it is Rx) but similar products are available without prescription as well.
After brushing and flossing my teeth I brush it on my teeth, leave it for one minute and I don’t wash it off just spit it out and don’t eat or drink for one hour.
I started it using when I was 8 or 9 years old. That is 40 years ago. The brand I use is the same, just the gel changed, it used to be red in color and now it is clear.

Is this it? Seems we can buy it on Amazon here…
It looks different than what they sell in Germany:

It is the second one, the german one. Seems it is not Rx in Germany. I get one every few years, you use just a small amount each time, around 1 cm of gel.
The US alternative would be this I guess:
but there are less strong ones that are not Rx, like this:

Not sure why you’d do something without reviewing the evidence.

Because I started it as a child and it clearly works form me. What evidence do you need? I don’t know many people my age with just one filling and even that one was not a result of caries. And I think evidence is quite clear on caries prevention with fluoride. When I was younger, 5, 6 and 7 we got fluoride pills weekly. It is like “vaccination” against caries, later when I was 13 or 14 my molars were protected against caries with dental sealant. And I have repeated it like every 5-6 years.
ps I am very diligent about this part of my dental hygiene, I also floss daily as I had few pre-caries lesions on hidden sides of teeth that were treated with few repeated fluoride varnishing to remineralize and were always spotted in time and no further treatment was needed, but I became more obsessed with flossing as a result. But other than that I don’t really brush after every meal, sometimes not even twice daily.

Bryan has now updated their page with new supplements and foods.
If I read it correctly it is now 31 pills regularly, of course some with many vitamins or supplements.

Yeah - and wow, amazing link @Neo
As it’s been stated before, Bryan’s diet is modeled strongly after Michael Rae’s diet from longecity.
I didn’t not know there was a generic Dr. Pepper, and it’d be funny if nutty pudding was inspired by one that included it.

An overly critical / negative take on Bryan Johnson’s routine from a doctor. He talks about the life extending effects of rapamycin but then cites, as a counter balance “However, its effectiveness may wane in the advanced stages of severe diseases.” No kidding.

Actually I didn’t think it was particularly critical… The thing he seemed sceptical on was compliance to the protocol by the vast majority of people. I would tend to agree. It would appear that most people struggle to eat anything like a healthy diet or do the minimum amount of exercise per week. And many even with serious illnesses seem incapable of remembering to take a few medications regularly. It must be infuriating being a doctor and knowing that 90% of your efforts are probably wasted.

The psychology of compliance is interesting, and compliance is truly awful. One problem is that medicine reminds people of a stressful medical problem - so they avoid taking it!

So I was accepted onto the program and there are a few tiers you can participate in. You can take a blood test at the beginning of the three months and then one at the end. I had fully intended to join but things went a little sideways. I contracted Covid for the second time and seemed to hade missed my window. I’m a little disappointed. I wanted to try it. Not necessarily because I expected much but I felt that being a part of something regimented might help me focus my protocol a bit more.

OK - I’m locking this thread because its gotten WAAAAY too long. I’ll open a new Bryan Johnson thread for people to post ongoing information and developments related to him.
As one person recently suggested to me - “you probably want to limit the length of threads to a reading time of less than a day”… and I suspect this thread is already past that limit.
