Here is my interview with Marco Altini, PhD of HRV4Training. Marco works with Oura, has built his own HRV and HRV biofeedback tools (which I have purchased), and is a hardcore runner. We cover how to do HRV baseline properly and how to use HRV biofeedback to improve / recover ANS balance over time. This is my major personal effort right now…aimed at improving my sleep (no drugs or supplements anymore). I highly recommend using HRV to track nervous system balance. I have gotten off the rails over the years by always being in “go go” mode. Now I am working to recapture my balance as a part of improving my sleep. I hope you like it.

Might be helpful for people - also comments on other devices (that eg Bryan Johnson uses).
(Note I’m not sure how credible Health Insider is).

I use the pulsetto every day. (As in I’ve missed 2-3 days over the last 5 months ). like it unreasonably well. It hurts. I think that’s why I like it. I’ve read that an uncomfortable intervention will have a bigger placebo effect.

I really hate Pulsetto and stopped using it. It gives me headaches, anxiety and insomnia.

What protocol did you use?
For me it’s it’s been great and has been helping me optimize my perceived sleep quality and measured HRV

interesting take on HRV by the master of HRV, Marco Altini, PhD
“For example, HRV is often claimed to be a health indicator, with people ending up optimizing HRV (instead of health!). Before you go down that road, consider that one of the quickest ways to dramatically increase your HRV is to stop eating, including when we develop chronic health conditions such as anorexia nervosa. Chronic malnutrition and behaviors associated with anorexia can lead to long-term complications, such as osteoporosis, cardiovascular issues, hormonal imbalances, and cognitive impairments (let alone the psychological challenges associated with all of this). And yet, people with anorexia nervosa are routinely reported with higher HRV than controls. In front of this evidence, it is impossible to claim that higher HRV is better, in my opinion.”

@约瑟夫_拉维尔 Or CR part of anorexia is good and increases HRV and that is good, but anorexia is bad through many other channels?

@Neo I don’t think so. High and low HRV (vs a personal baseline) is thought to represent a negative status. The key idea is to not turn the metric into the goal vs the real goal which is health or fitness etc.

Finally I used my Pulsetto with great results. I bought it last year, tried it 3-4 times, didn’t like it and put it away on a shelf to collect dust.
Yesterday I woke up with a pretty bad sore throat and a headache. Suspected flu, which I probably got at a concert where everybody around me was coughing and sneezing. I decided to try all possible means, medications and devices, to treat my sore throat within 1-2 days to be ready for Christmas.
At first I used my old TENS device, trying different frequencies for 10 min each. Then I gargled with baking soda, salt and iodine solution. Then I used Pulsetto for 20 min. And, voila, the pain miraculously disappeared and I could swallow normally again. I repeated the whole process at least 3 times yesterday and a few times today. So far so good, no flu symptoms whatsoever! Could it be TENS or Pulsetto? I don’t think it was my immune system

I’ve used my Pulsetto to death. It is now falling apart. I’m hoping they will replace it but I may have to buy something similar hoping for better durability.

Pulsetto says they will replace it. (Warranty). It’s taken them a month so far to not replace it. They keep saying they are busy filling new orders. Fingers crossed.
